The Department of Economics and Business Economics at Aarhus University, invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship, starting in the fall of 2026.

Research Fields: economics of education, educational policy, educational psychology, child development, family economics.

The position is funded by TrygFonden’s Centre for Child Research at Aarhus BSS. TrygFonden’s Centre for Child Research is an interdisciplinary research centre based at Aarhus University (Aarhus BSS) that specializes in rigorous impact evaluations and policy-relevant research on children’s and young people’s development, learning and well-being. The centre brings together scholars from economics, political science, psychology and neighbouring fields, enabling cross-disciplinary work that links causal evaluation and behavioural insights. As a post-doctoral fellow at the centre, you can be employed at each of these departments. The centre currently lists more than 45 fellows across disciplines and is supported by a permanent secretariat, which runs day-to-day project management, data collection, GDPR issues, communication etc. The centre focuses in the current call on family interventions, teacher-child interactions, development of math skills, development of language skills, and the politico-economic governance of the educational system. The duration of the post-doctoral fellowship is 1 to 3 years. We offer favourable conditions regarding research facilities, data access, time devoted to research, travel support, etc. For non-Danish researchers, a favourable tax-scheme exists. There are limited teaching responsibilities in connection with the position.

The Department of Economics and Business Economics has around 120 faculty members covering the fields of Finance, Logistics and Operations Research, Economics, Econometrics, Business Analytics and other fields. The department faculty is international, and the working language is English. The department hosts several research centers providing an active research environment and the department has several seminar series with ample influx of visiting researchers. The Department of Economics and Business Economics services several undergraduate and master-level programs. The PhD program has an annual intake of around 15 to 20 students. Interviews will be conducted through the European Job Market virtual meetings mid-December, and candidates may subsequently be invited to give a job talk at Aarhus University starting January 2026.
