The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) was founded in Qatar in 2015 as a Doha-based independent institution of higher education. The Institute offers MA and PhD programs in two schools: the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy. The Institute adopts a student-centred approach to learning, promotes interdisciplinary research, and uses Arabic as the primary language of instruction, with fluency in English a requirement. Brief Description of Program:
The mission of the Master of Development Economics (MDE) program is to advance the learning and research capacity of diverse Arabic speaking students using interdisciplinary research methodologies and tools. The MDE program aims to graduate development economists and practitioners who can propose scientific and practical solutions to development challenges in the Arab region in an ethical and culturally relevant manner.

The Development Economics program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) invites applications for a renewable position, open rank, starting Fall 2026.
The position is in the area of development economics in all specializations particularly macroeconomic analyses of economic development.
Appointees are expected to teach two graduate-level courses per semester, advise and supervise students, participate in seminars, provide service, and conduct research. Candidates should be able to teach in Arabic and English. The minimum requirement is a Ph.D. in economics and proficiency in written and spoken Arabic.
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver graduate level courses.
- Supervise master's and doctorate students in the program while actively engaging in the academic life of DI.
- Publish research in specialized and related fields in leading refereed / peer reviewed journals and/or reputable academic publishing houses.
- Undertake administrative responsibilities and contribute to the needs of the program, school, institute, and community
- Participate in various committees at the program, school, and institute levels.
Qualification, Experiences and Skills:
Applicants must:
- Hold a doctorate degree in the field of Economics
- Demonstrate a track record of scientific research and publications in their field of specialization and related areas in international peer-reviewed journals that align with their academic rank.
- Possess competence and experience in graduate-level teaching.
- Exhibit proficiency in the Arabic language.
- Be capable of attracting external support and funding for research.
- Be willing to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research with other members of the program and/or institute.
- Have the potential to build a global reputation in specialized research fields.
