HEC Paris invites applications for a full-time research faculty position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level) in AI and Economics, with a focus on technological change and labor market transformation. The position is affiliated with the Hi! PARIS Center on Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence for Science, Business and Society (https://www.hi-paris.fr/ ).

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field and demonstrate a strong record of research excellence, with publications in leading academic journals. Successful candidates are expected to pursue high-impact research, contribute to the academic community, and provide outstanding teaching on machine learning and artificial intelligence at the graduate and executive level, with applications to economics and related fields.

Main Expertise:

Ideal candidates should have a research agenda centered on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, technological change, and economics, with particular emphasis on understanding how AI adoption reshapes labor markets, employment structures, skill requirements, wage inequality, and productivity. Research may address the diffusion of AI technologies and their implications for firm boundaries, sectoral transformation, and economic resilience, using rigorous empirical methods such as applied econometrics and machine learning.

Other Desired Expertise:

Additional expertise in domains where AI can drive broader economic and societal impact will be considered a plus. These include the application of AI and machine learning to foster innovation and R&D productivity, address climate change through sustainable technologies and environmental economics, and promote poverty reduction and economic inclusion by improving access to jobs, education, and financial services. Research that explores policy and regulatory challenges associated with these transformations—such as fairness, bias, and labor rights—will be particularly welcome.
