Doing experiments with augmented reality for social behaviors
Postdoctoral Scholar
Bavaria, Germany
University of Augsburg
We are looking to fill a three-year
post-doc position (m/f/d)
involving augmented reality experiments for social behaviors.
We are a team of lawyers, economists and social psychologists. We are particularly interested to receive applications from candidates with a PhD in computer science or economics, but we welcome graduates of all social sciences willing to engage in an interdisciplinary project involving augmented reality experiments (including virtual goggles and sensor measurement), as well as conventional lab and field experiments.
Our research program concerns understanding which types of legal solutions work best to achieve social objectives. We conduct laboratory and field experiments as well as explore natural experiments to study the effectiveness and side effects of various regulatory instruments. We study CO2 emissions, financial markets and more.
Our research is funded by Volkswagen Foundation. The team is headed by professor Alexander Hellgardt, the Chair of Private Law, and includes post-docs and student assistants specialized in law, psychology and economics. We offer extensive budget for experiments, a research network with top scholars in law & economics in Europe and the US (including potential research stays at Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, Max Planck Institutes in Bonn & Munich).
The offer is for a period of three years. The position is intended as full-time (90 % or more) but we are open to flexible arrangements (temporary employment is for own scientific qualification, § 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG). Remuneration is TV-L E14 (post-doc).
Your tasks will involve participating, executing and leading research projects within our research agenda. You are expected to collaborate in designing and to implement augmented reality laboratory experiments and co-author academic papers reporting the results of these experiments. We also plan to do experiments z-Tree & o-Tree within a reasonable period of employment. The willingness to delve into our research agenda is expected, but the time for own research is negotiable. The position involves no teaching duties.
